The options may be chosen on the product pageThe ion exchange membrane is the heart of modern zero-gap electrolysis systems, governing ion transport, gas separation, and overall cell efficiency. For researchers developing next-generation water electrolyzers, selecting the right membrane chemistry and thickness is essential. We stock a curated range of premium Fumatech membranes designed specifically for electrolysis applications.
Our selection covers both anion exchange membranes (AEM) and cation exchange membranes (CEM), providing the foundational materials needed for alkaline, AEM, and PEM water electrolysis research, as well as specialized electrochemical synthesis.
The fumasep FAAM series is designed specifically for alkaline water electrolysis and AEM electrolysis. These membranes selectively transport OH⁻ ions while blocking gas crossover. We offer both thin-film non-reinforced versions (like FAAM-20) for low-resistance fundamental studies, and heavy-duty polyketone-reinforced versions (like FAAM-PK-75) for high-pressure, long-term operation.
For acidic environments and PEM water electrolysis, we supply robust cation exchange membranes. The F-10150-PTFE, for example, features PTFE reinforcement for exceptional mechanical durability and dimensional stability under demanding operating conditions.
All membranes are supplied with full technical datasheets and are ready to integrate our electrolysis flow cells. If you are unsure which membrane suits your specific electrolyte, temperature, or current density requirements, contact our technical team for expert guidance.
All membranes come in the following sizes:
We can easily provide our membranes precision cut to other shapes and sizes. Just reach out to us and tell us what you need for your setup – or we can help you figure it out.
For fundamental studies and low-resistance research, start with fumasep FAAM-20 (thin, non-reinforced). For longer-duration or higher-pressure operation, move to the polyketone-reinforced FAAM-PK-75.
Yes, most ion exchange membranes require conditioning — typically a soak in the target electrolyte and possibly ion exchange to convert to the desired counter-ion form. Datasheets include conditioning protocols.
In most cases yes, as long as the active area and gasket geometry match. Contact us if you need a non-standard size.
