Cutting tools for Electrodes and Membranes

These cutting tools are for precise cutting of electrodes and membranes. They are useful for cutting soft electrode materials (such as carbon felt etc.) and membranes. We can also make custom die cutting tools on request. 

One die cutting tool is needed for each application. 

Membranes for Redox Flow Battery Cells and Electrolysis standard cells – our A, S and X Cells can either be cut in ~60x60mm or in full size, with hole for alignment bars etc. What works best depends on the nature of the membrane and your preference. Porous separators should always be cut in 60x60mm to fit into a separator sealing gasket.

For the X-Stack and the S-Stack, you may use again the 60×60 mm in combination with a porous separator gasket (prefered mainly for the X-Stack with actual porous separators) or alternatively a fully cut membrane sheet for the Stack, with holes for the internal manifold. Keep in mind that the dimensions of the manifold is different for S and X Stack.

Finally, the membrane for the 3/4-compartment electrodialysis and CO2-Eelectrolysis cells are slightly different and require a full-size cut membrane with holes for the internal manifold.

Electrodes are cut in either 50x50mm or 25x25mm – these cutting tools are useful for soft electrode materials such as carbon felt and carbon paper electrodes. Harder electrode materials should be cut by other means such as laser cutting or with a cutter designed for these materials.
