Gasket solution for using GDE’s in Redox-Flow 3/4-compartment cell for CO2 electrolysis, Oxygen Depolarised Cathode or other gas/liquid-interface reactions. With our package, you can use GDE’s of 3×3 cm or 6×6 cm size, which are sealed with an adhesive Kapton tape gasket to accurately control the exposed active area to 2.5×2.5 cm or 5×5 cm.
The package consist of GDE gasket(s) with an empty area for the GDE in the center of 3×3 or 6×6 cm and an adhesive Kapton sealing gasket that is sealing the GDE and gasket completely to allow sealing between gas and liquid phase.
When selecting you gaskets, make sure that you include gaskets to match the thickness of your GDE. Each gasket thickness contains a set of 2 gaskets. you can stack multiple gaskets to obtain the desired thickness and only the gasket with interphase towards the liquid is sealed with the Kapton gasket.
Each pack of Kapton gaskets include 10 gaskets, to allow for multiple assemblies.
To assemble the cell, use the backside of your any of your Redox-Flow Cell flowbodies.

Carefully remove the protective layer on the Kapton and be careful not to fold or damage the Kapton gasket. Place the Kapton with the adhesive layer upwards.

Place the 3.0×3.0 or 6.0×6.0 cm cover gasket with the manifold holes aligned with the Kapton lightly on top of the Kapton.

Carefully place the GDL in the centre and lightly press the edges to bond to the Kapton.

The final assembled gasket may have a few air bubbles, but this is not critical in the final assembly.

Total thickness: 63.5 µm
