The Zahner IM7 is the workstation we recommend for most electrochemical research setups. It covers the full range of standard techniques — EIS, CV, LSV, chronoamperometry, and chronopotentiometry — with ±3 A current output, ±15 V / ±5 V controlled voltage, ±28 V compliance, and Zahner’s HDP technology for outstanding dynamic accuracy across the full 10 µHz – 8 MHz frequency range. Supports floating and grounded mode operation. Includes Zahner Lab software with 3 Zahner Analysis licenses.
The IM7 is expandable via 4 hardware slots. For experiments requiring higher current — larger flow battery cells or electrolysis stacks — it can be paired with the PP242 External Power Potentiostat (±40 A, via EPC42 interface card). The PAD42 card adds synchronous multi-channel voltage acquisition (4 channels, 24-bit resolution) for multi-electrode or multi-compartment setups.
Depending on your specific application, a different Zahner instrument may be a better fit.

Potentiostats & Electrochemical Workstations
Electrochemical workstations and power potentiostats for flow battery research, electrolysis, and general electrochemical characterisation. Suitable for techniques including cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
Zahner IM7 — Electrochemical Workstation Frequency range 10 µHz – 8 MHz · ±3 A · ±15 V / ±5 V controlled voltage · ±28 V compliance · floating & grounded mode switchable
High-precision workstation covering FRA, potentiostatic, and galvanostatic operation. HDP technology for dynamic accuracy across the full frequency range. Expandable via up to 4 hardware module slots — including the EPC42 interface card for connecting external power potentiostats, and the PAD42 for synchronous multi-channel voltage acquisition (up to 5 channels, 24-bit resolution). Includes Zahner Lab software.
Zahner PP242 — External Power Potentiostat ±40 A · ±5 V · DC – 200 kHz · requires EPC42
For experiments requiring higher current than the IM7 alone can supply. Connects to the IM7 via the EPC42 interface card. Suited to larger-format flow battery cells and electrolysis stacks where stack current exceeds benchtop potentiostat limits.
